Robot Movie Update #13: A Gathering of Robots, part 1…
For this flythrough video, I wanted to get a better idea of scale for this first set, so I tossed in a bunch of robot extras wandering around, orbiting support columns, and in general trying to get in the camera’s way. There were a couple of small enhancements to the room’s design, too — see if you can spot them through the crappy MPEG compression…

(1) The corners are rounded in the recessed ceiling.
(2) The lighting looks softer. I’m guessing you substituted area lights for some of the other POVRay light types. …. probably took a lot longer to render
Looking good!
Well, my skills with modeling and such are still novice. So I won’t comment on differences. However, I will say that it looks really cool. I thought at first that the room was way too big. I thought it would swallow up your characters. But when you see them all moving about it makes more sense. Really cool. I look forward to seeing it completed.
Ted - Right about the corners. Don’t pay any attention to the lighting for now — those are just test lights. I won’t worry about the final area lights/light groups/spotlights/etc., til much later in the rendering cycle…
Michael - Thanks for the compliment
Yes, it is a big room, but it’s going to contain a whole bunch of robots & stuff, and those robots & stuff need some elbow room! Why? Ain’t sayin’
Throw a little love my way, won't 'cha??? Thanks!!!! :)
